About

Personal Introduction

I was born and raised in Toronto and in the GTA. My mother was a single immigrant mother raising me. Many may see this as a misfortune, but I see it as a motivator and inspiration. My mother, like many of her relatives, came to Canada in the 90s for a better life. She has worked hard and has been able to provide for me a life full of love and knowledge.
I have seen and heard the oppression and stereotypes my mother and other Latinxs in my family have experienced. It has hindered their livelihood and relationships. I choose to take this information and use my white-passing-latina-privilege to expose injustices and make change for the better, especially in the health care field.

About

Traits and Skills

I have always been a very determined person. I like to make sure everything that I am a part of runs efficiently and makes a positive impact. I pay attention to all the details of a project. I make sure that every task is just right, but is also completed in a timely manner.

I am also an extremely organized person who is focused on producing results. While I am always realistic when setting goals, I consistently develop ways to efficiently achieve and often exceed, those goals.

I'm a people person. I really enjoy meeting and working with a lot of different people and am known for being a great listener and clear communicator, whether I’m engaging with colleagues, employers and/or customer/clients.

I've learned that we all have different communication styles, and I am able to interpret others' ways of communicating to effectively work with them. I also like to ask questions and don't have a problem following up to confirm I've understood something correctly. We all see things through our own perspectives, and I try to understand what that perspective is for others so we can communicate well.
I enjoy solving problems in a timely manner. I thrive in team settings, and I think my ability to effectively communicate with others is what drives my ability to solve a variety of problems.

I am an accountable person in which I believe that by taking responsibility for my actions and results, I have the ability to make the choices necessary for a better outcome or results for the next time around. Pointing fingers or playing the blame game is not productive and can even set the team back.
